Black P Reg Eunos with mp45 charger

Postby Curlyteeth » Wed Feb 08, 2017 10:58 am

Does anyone remember my old black P Reg Eunos with mini Supercharger and Rota Cups with very unusual door cards that had the arm rest and the door pockets?

Here's a pic to jog the memory...

Image

Well anyway.... I think it must be over 6 years since it was sold and I've found it

Its been sitting in a yard on the South coast for the last 3 years under a cover and its still only got 60K kilometers on the clock.

And its for SALE 8)

Yesss... I found it!!! :D

But ohh dear

Image

Very sad to see

Image

The car itself can not survive (even though its only got a genuine 90k kilometres on the clock)

The body is totally shot - arches, sills, wings, front end has had a (light) bump that's distorted the bonnet, roof trashed etc.

That said I bought it for £750  Must be mad I hear you cry BUT...

I've hired a van and I'm going down on Sunday to take everything out of it and I mean everything... engine, gearbox, diff and shafts, dash and interior, doors and windows.... everything

including ofcourse.... the Supercharger setup :thumb: going on the current car very, very soon  8) 8) 8)

There is a very long list of very interesting bits on this car that I haven't seen before or since so watch this space for future items of considerable interest - maybe for sale!!

Obviously if there's anything that anyone is particularly after... let me know before Sunday so I can be sure to remove it!!!!

I'm excited for the road trip going armed with many tools and a lifter for some serious dismantlement on the south coast :thumb:

BUT a SUPERCHARGED G-LIMITED well that's like a Dodo that's been covered in rocking horse shit and then cleaned with unicorn tears...

I need an intercooler though anyone tell me a brand that will go straight in? :thumb:

and the best place to source a ME 221 8)

Nice work, a lot achieved very quickly by the look of it!

Intercooler - only UK ones pretty much ready to fit are from Fast5 for £300 to £400. They are just generic chinese intercoolers with a selection of straight and 90 degree silicon pipes so not anything clever. Much better ones from the states, from Fab9 engineering, Flyin Miata etc.

Or if you don't mind a bit of work you can have my Flyin Miata intercooler with a few random silicon pipes for £50

ME you can buy direct I think, shop around for the prices though as they keep sneaking up ... I'd look for a Megasquirt personally, know a few people who have struggled trying to tune the ME as it's geared more towards rolling roads than home tuners

Cool, it at least confirms it's roughly front and centre, so should narrow things down

Thanks Russell for the old school FM Intercooler fitted albeit somewhat unconventionally I think.

I think a "Faster pedal engaged" is in order Cerbs :thumb:

For info/reference: -

I mounted the I/C a bit higher than the brackets suggested by making a bracket that picked up two bolt on the AC Rad and straightening the folded side of the bonnet catch support so I could drill it for the top I/C fixing.

This made the bottom of the I/C exactly level with the bottom of the nose with the small lip attached.

I came off the left of the I/C with a 90 degree bend, went back under the rads (keeping the AC) used another 90 to virtually go straight up onto the intake with a final 90. Probably unconventionally - I came off the front of the charger with a 90 and dived down to the left to come alongside the inlet pipework.

Image

Using a straight coupler I changed to vertical with a 120 bent pipe and then into a 90 which I angled toward other side of the intercooler with a straight pipe into the last 90 to rise to upper I/C connector using a straight coupler.

Image

£50 for the intercooler and £60 for the universal pipe kit - jobs a gooden....

Took a couple of hours mind

Faster Pedal please :wavey: :wavey:

Okay so now I have the S/C and the intercooler fitted and the car is running well... purring on tick over and really brings on the grins in boost 8)

HOWEVER;- Same as before its a challenge on the motorway to get the car to cruse at 70 - 80mph cus the boost keeps coming in and out and you get a rather unnecessary "kick up the arse" when you only want to accelerate a little.

Last time I fitted a choke cable inside the car that open the bypass valve - so no boost when you pulled out the choke, but it was all a bit heath....

I have thought about buying a solenoid and having a switch inside the car
https://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B016PUOOL4/ref=ox_ya_os_product

This one should do the job I think...

This must have been an issue for others but I can find anything on the internet.

Does anyone have experience in the area or have any ideas???
