A couple of people mentioned this at the meet. For those that are fully paid up members of the OC, there's a nice article in this month's STHT. For those that haven't, there's a load of threads on the Motorsport forum, with the essentials here.

The Motorsport Co-ordinator has managed to persuade the rest of the committee that there should be an official club-wide event where cars get driven rather than polished. So it's free (except for track time and food/drink) to members. Nick's running the track stuff, and so it will be good weather and it will be fun.

I've signed up for a place on track, and I'd encourage anyone else who is hesitating to get their form in ASAP. I drove Blyton circuit last year and can tell you first hand that it's a good circuit for learning. There's only a few corners, plenty of run-off and no camber to worry about. A large part of it is (or can be) flat-out in a stock car, and it flows nicely. Basically you won't get lost or confused.

So who else is going?

You need to reply on the official card supplied in STHT by the 14th of April when the applications will be opened. There are only 100 car spaces and 120 envelopes already.

I've just seen the list on the OC Forum, and I don't recognise any other names

So if you're a fully paid up member and know which pedal makes the engine sound louder, then please put your name down. This is great chance to show other owners that there's more to the club than drinking tea...

What's on offer:

Saturday:

Open Pit Lane (max 25 cars on track at any time), chequered flag will be shown every 15 mins to encourage turn-around.

Car control auto-test: on & off road (tarmac & grass) where cars go 'head to head' against the clock and each other on a mirrored course.

Saturday Night:

Time to let your hair down after a hard day's driving: Hog roast, bar, disco etc.

Sunday:

More of the same all morning.

Track closes at midday to prepare for the Guinness World Record attempt.

If you are only planning to attend on the Sunday to participate in the GWR attempt, you are still more than welcome to arrive on Saturday and stay over for the party, hog-roast will only cost a fiver a head and bar prices are average, ie £3/pint or glass of wine and £1.50 for shorts.
