New airport security measures for all electronic devices.

If you're carrying any electronic devices in your hand luggage that are capable of holding a charge,
you'll need to make sure they're fully charged when you go through airport security.
This is part of new security measures that have been introduced by airports both in the UK and abroad.
We recommend you keep things like mobile phones switched on until you board the plane,
as there might be more checks at the departure gate.

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the back of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall.
Torque is how far you send the wall across the field once you've hit it.

Thats much more of a fire hazard, but i guess they can then tell more easily if it is a faux device with something naughty inside.

Is it not just a case of being able to show it is a working device e.g. you switch it on to show a working phone.... rather than a phone shaped bomb with a semtex battery

Oh yes and thanks for telling me about the: -

"mark posts read" button on the RHS of the index page

and the "view unread posts" left of middle same page.

I've been on here for ages and didn't know about these - I was always missing stuff :banghead:

I just marked all as read and now I can go in an see what's current - cheers Vic :thumb:

Got me wondering if everyone else is aware

You don't need to have 100% charge just enough to switch it on if requested

Taken from the gov website

On 2 July we announced we were stepping up some of our aviation security measures. In line with the US advice, passengers on some routes into and out of the UK may now also be required to show that electronic devices in their hand luggage are powered up or face not being allowed to bring the device onto the aircraft. Passengers flying into or out of the UK are therefore advised to make sure electronic devices being carried in their hand luggage are charged before they travel.

It's recommend you fully charge your devices before travel to limit the chances of them being flat by the time you reach airport security .
