Nope... I'm going to behave. Or the much beloved will be sizing up my parts for ear rings.

Modelsport have just started stocking the M06R so I am thinking of treating myself to one of those in April as a birthday present to myself.

Shame as its a very, very cheap way into a car. Not sure how good the radio gear is but it'd be £100 less than buying new with a few upgrades chucked in. I was thinking about buying it for the radio gear but its more than have spare.

Got some kind of progress... my box of bits is officially on the way! It'll be a real bitsa project while I sort through what I have and work out what I need to keep, then sell off the spares to bring some money back in... I'm up to about £200 spent so far, but should be able to bring £100 back in and still have 3 working cars if I'm lucky!

The main unknown is the motors, there are several motors between the chassis but I have no idea what they are other than noticing they are a variety of colours, so fingers crossed there are some decent ones in there somewhere and I can make up the M06 with a nice setup from what I have rather than having to fork out any more cash!!

I'm officially bored of the snow now, the guy sending me the RC kit has just confirmed its not left his house yet... he booked it and stayed in waiting for the couriers, no show... same wednesday, same today. I was wondering if he was spinning me a bit of a line, but I have just done exactly the same thing myself today... phoned the couriers and they confirmed they are miles behind and are trying to clear the backlog but it might take a few days. Stupid thing is, a set of batteries I ordered from Singapore arrived in 2 days with no problem!

Well the box of bits arrived yesterday...and about 15 minutes later the MX5 shell arrived. Bit annoying but my parents are up this weekend so i probably won't get a chance to do anything with them until next week!

So here's the "unveil"... started with a box being delivered

Image

Which when opened was crammed full of stuff!!

Image

Not that I've got a clue what half the stuff does, but I worked out how to fit the right shells to the right chassis... which makes quite a cool looking garage!

Image

This is the better of the chassis, M06Pro. Seems to have a lot of mods done already, including proper ball bearings in place of the nylon things, proper oil filled dampers, alloy steering arm and various other parts, carbon strut top etc etc

Image

And this is just some of the random spares that I need to work out... 6 sets of wheels, about 10 sets of tyres, springs, shocks, motors etc etc...

Image

So I just need to work out which bits go where and see if I can get one working without spending any cash!

Managed to pop in to see Simon (who I'd forgotten is a bit of an R/C addict as well) and went quickly through the box... so all 4 of the chassis are modified, and a lot more than I'd thought! Also I appear to have 3 standard motors, 2 of which are brand new and unused. Then there's the third motor, which is a 12T one... but which doesn't seem to work although its not been investigated yet.

To cut a long story short, with what I have in the box all I really need is to assemble a set and buy a battery charger to charge up the LiPo battery i didn't know I had... and then go play!!
Ebay here I come then!

I'll be over soon but haven't had much spare time and had to pick some car bits up from Simon anyway... I at least have a basic plan of action now anyway, to get one car working!!

To that end I've just ordered a battery charger (fingers crossed it;ll be the right one!) and a LiPo bag... and I've been going through the bits to work out which car with which bits will be the first one!

:) No worries mate. Kettle on standby ;)

It's gotta be the M06 chassis I think? Ready in time for the Tech-Day?

Well thats whats sat on the desk at the moment... probably be with the standard motor but that'll do for the moment! I've gone for an Overlander charger and battery bag (cheapest one that looked decent), and also just getting a load of rechargeable AA batteries for the handset... just got to work out how to fit all the wiring and electricky gubbins!!

Just for the record, the battery he chucked in with the M06 is a Turnigy 5000mAh LiPO battery in a hard case. Cheap and cheerful from what I can tell, which is the same story for the motor. The nice motor and controller that doesn't work is from Hobbywing as well (an RC shop in the states) and its a 12T EZRun Brushless motor ... fingers crossed I can get it working, but if not I'll replace it with similar as that should be fast enough for me!

Russell,
I am spotting a trend here with you and cars, no matter what size

Cerbs, I think you need to print a 3D garage and drive.

There's a garage almost identical to that at my grandparents house. All these years I thought Grandad made it!
