Everybody's doing it!

Thought I would try this "modeling" lark since everyone seems to be doing it on here

So onto ebay and bought my first kit:




Looked a very nice kit, lots of little details.

Skip forward because I forgot to take photos and I got the undercarriage built and sprayed in a base coat. The steering even works



Also primered the body, attempted to wet sand with water and an emery board and then sprayed it in gloss. Actually using Nissan paint too 10 points for accuracy.






So maybe I shouldn't quit my day job to become a painter just yet. Maybe I should have bought a model of an early Datsun, that way the bad paint would have been realistic at least.

Stay tuned, because I still need to paint the interior, leave the body to dry a few days and then clear coat, then assemble the whole thing.

The wheels that come with this kit are kind of shit, they look terribly plasticy. I figure they'd look better if I painted them, but unsure what colour would go with a black body. Whole car would have probably looked better in grey. But I chose black as it's easier, because I wont have to paint all the little rubber seals black because I'm spraying the whole thing black.

Also I hate flash photography, shows up everything bad.

Got Tuesday off work so I'll be buying some more paint and I'll hopefully have the whole thing done by Tuesday night.

I think this black might be slightly metallic. It's Nissan Kuro Black from Halfords.

The body paint is kinda crap, found it hard to get a smooth finish with spray cans.





Already ordered another modelkit to build, hopefully that one will be better.
