Ruzz's Rc cars

Postby Ruzz » Tue Feb 05, 2013 8:40 pm

After reading cerberus's thread on his rc mx5 I had a rummage round in the loft to try and find my old rc cars . Once I had spent some time in the dimly lit loft crashing into stuff I should of got rid of years ago I emerged with a box full of rc stuff .

I ended up with
M01 chassis ( not the m03 chasis i first thought ) with mini body
Tl01 4wd chassis with Astra touring car body
Spare tl01 chassis
4 motors ( 2 normal and 2 upgraded ) although only the 2 norm and 1 upgraded are working at the mo
5 battery packs
Elec speed controller ( currently not working so I've had to go back to the old style manual speed controllers )
2 transmitter controllers
3 battery chargers
And a few random spares

I still haven't found my old racing buggy ( realisticly the only one that stands a chance against cerb's mx5 ) but both the mini and Astra are now up and running :D

Upgrades are planned but they will be done slowly as I'm trying to stay on a budget as I know this could get ridiculously expensive .

Nice work that man! I reckon it's that M06 of Russell's we will have to be scared of! It corners far more neatly than the M04.

Bring on teh upradez! :thumb:

That looks cool... I really like the mini, looks a lot nicer than my smashed up mini shell! So will you be joining us on wednesday night? I'm hoping to have something there although its likely to be the standard engined one as I can't get my head round all the gear needed to get the faster motor working!

I will be at the meet tomorrow and the tech day on sat and they will be in the boot just in case the weather is good enough to give em a run . I think if we set up a short course with lots of turns we may be able to compete we cerb's car :thumb:

Judging by the state of my driving on Monday I doubt I'd compete with my 3 year old!

After the run out at the monthly , I needed to sort out the steering list and one of the tyres that had perished on the astra . Luckily I had just purchased some wheels and tyres for the mini off vindi .
I also needed to spruce up the body shell as the paint was rubbish . I didn't have any proper paint so a bit plastic primer and some Winchester grey pray paint ( left over from my wheel refurb ) later and it looked like this

It won't last long but it'll do until I can get a better bodyshell .

Well it's been over 3 years since I last posted on here , nothing exciting happened , I used the cars a handful of times but generally they sat round gathering dust until recently .
I decided to turn one of my little lads toy lorries into an Rc Lorry :D

Not quite finished ( needs different wheels and the bed tiding up )

I will probably replace the stock motor a some point for something a bit quicker

I did ask him before I started just in case
He has had a few goes but I'm going to have to sort out some bumper protection if I want it to last .
The problem I have now is that he wants me to convert his bin lorry as well so we can play together but I don't have enough spare parts .
What was supposed to be a project of turning one toy into anther cool toy without spending any money is going to end up with me scouring EBay for another chassis to buy :banghead:
