Blyton 1-3 22nd/23rd June 2013

The venue for motorsport events!

Blyton 1-3 22nd/23rd June 2013

Postby stuartb » Sun Mar 24, 2013 6:08 pm

You might remember me mentioning, last year, the OC inaugural Motorsport rally - The Blyton Bash. Given how successful that was (thanks in no small part to NickD), it's on again this year.

The format is slightly different, but the key elements are the same: camping, BBQ, beer tent (or bring your own), socializing and track-driving.

For those hesitant about taking their car out on track - don't worry, it's safe and fun. First time I went on track was at the OC rally at Mallory, and the car was 100% stock. If you want to dip your toe in the water, there's 3 novice sessions for the total price of £30 - about the cheapest track experience you'll get.

If you want to come and camp, then do so. It'll be like the spring.summer rally, but no 'cleanest car' competition in sight.

Tickets go on sale on 6th April, via the OC shop.

We will be there!!!!! :thumb:

I'm going to approach the OC in my role as joint AC and requests P5 area be set aside for camping.....

So you better all get signed up!

You don't even have to go on track just come for the party if you don't want to squeal your tyres! :thumb:

Ask for a plot that's not next to the toilet block please.

Last year I pitched my tent at the end of the first row and came back in the evening to find the bogs right next to me. Got woken up at 6am.

Based on previous camp-outs at Blyton, probably would be a good idea to make sure that we're close to the fire bucket.

I would quite fancy this, especially at that price but I won't be in the country.

My understanding is that the venue is open to non-members for spectating/camping.

The on track sessions are heavily club subsidised and therefore only open to club members.

Pretty sure the beer tent will be open to non-members on Saturday night

There were certainly some fine wenches serving the JD and Coke last year.... Although I promised myself my camping days were over.

As Cerbs said. Or, you could join up. Even paying the annual fee, it works out at a pretty cheap trackday.

You also said that you'd get your car out on circuit next time....

Tickets went on sale Saturday at noon. 24 hours later and a lot of the tickets had been sold. If you're interested, book asap.

Remember, you do not need anything special, other than a helmet and an MX-5/Eunos Roadster. No special modifications are needed, and I suspect that about 3/4 of the cars on track will be normal road-going cars.

Tickets left as of lunchtime today:

Sat Novice - 6
Sat Inter - 3
Sat Experienced -10
Sat Open Pit - 3

Sun Novice - 12
Sun Inter - 0
Sun Experienced - 10
Sun Open Pit - 10

Good point. I've edited the thread title. Never realised that the forum software allowed that.

You need to get grovelling quickly. I wouldn't be suprised if those slots get sold in the next couple of days.

Is there anyone that's tempted to go, but doesn't want to take their own car?
