Better than nowt tho!

Dammit.... Now I have to sort out my alignment, replace my ruined front tyres, and it would probably make sense to finally get round to changing my disks, pads, and brake fluid.

Is there any electricity at the campsite location at Blyton?

Since we've done a couple of P5 alignment days there already can it be posted here for the P5 guys too?

Found the thread on Nutz and you have already asked the same question. Nice one :thumb:

What is it with guys from Coventry? Have the PhoenixFives somehow offended the whole of Coventry and they won't come out to play with us? :shock:

I'm gonna have to look at Google optimisation or something. I can't believe there are so many local to us that can find Nutz but cant find P5's. That's
not right is it!

I might have to try to get over to A-Line tomorrow. Blyton is only the weekend after next (bit of a shock I had it in my head it was next month)

Need to drum up some interest in the camping I think! So far it's......

1. Stuartb - camping Friday night + Saturday night. Driving Saturday AM/PM & Sunday AM/PM
2. ianmkent -camping Saturday night. Driving Sunday
3. Cerbs and BV - Camping Friday + Saturday. Driving Sunday Novice.
4. Luke
5. Raydar27
6.
7.
8.

Any more?? You don't have to be an OC member to attend either day or to camp Fri/Sat nights.

Blyton has a huge social aspect to it. It's much much more than a track day. It's a whole weekend of MX-5'centric debauchery and fun.

You really will kick yourselves if you miss out on it, honestly.

Other stuff going on at Blyton includes
* Beer Tent
* Mobile Rolling Road Dyno - Have a power run and see what your bhp really is!
* Auto-Test - A tarmac-grass-tarmac course against the clock AND another car (Weather permitting)
* Beer Tent
* Blyton Parks own on-site catering providing breakfast and lunch.
* A huge luxury marquee with an inclosed viewing garden overlooking the Paddock, plus a few surprises...
* Beer Tent
* Saturday night bar and disco 6pm to midnight with a 6-7pm 'happy hour' to get the party started.
* Plenty of MX-5's hooning around the track to be watched and heckled

I'm also told there might be a beer tent.

We use A-Line in Dudley - LINK

Mention you are from Phoenix Fives and it will cost you £35 (I think? Someone correct me if I am delirious please)

I'm not sure, but probably not. We'll be camping on a big patch of green stuff. There's a hangar, and an admin building block with showers next to it.

If you've got space to transport them, I've got a set of wheels with track tyres that you could borrow for the weekend. You'd only need to transport them one-way.

Thanks for the offer mate. Would love to take you up on it. But I will have a boot full of camping gear and a passenger seat full of BV. I'll have no room :(

Anyone wanna volunteer to transport some wheels for me? :wink:

Could have been worse. The grass on the opposite side of the track is very bumpy there. My second driver had epic late-braking failure and just went flying off the track.

I only managed to leave the regular track 3 times. All at Port Froid. Also managed to find that extra braking point that Nick told me about - by some fluke.

The lovely BV took one video for me........ :thumb:

Bald front tyres, Front brake pads that have 25% material left, Rain..... But still nothing caught me apart from one MK3 that beat the crap out of me down a straight.

Image

Had two instances of both fronts locked. Once into the Wiggler chicane and once into BungaBunga corner. Managed to modulate off the brakes in time to turn in. Although I didn't trouble the apex on that pass.

The Wiggler was my Nemesis for the day and it wasn't till late in the third session before I could perfect a line through it without pant wetting amounts of under-steer.

Had one little excursion along the airstrip when I approached Port Froid corner at a speed that wasn't going to work out so well. So I straight lined it, off track, to the right of the apex cone. Blyton forgives you quite easily.

I can't wait to do it again in a car that's better suited to track (And that I don't need to drive to work the next day).

when i went there last time with YP, it was Bishop's and Bunga Bunga that tempted you into a 'confident' entry speed, only to tighten on you significantly once you got to the meat of the corner, for me it was probably to do with the tarmac that appeared to be usable actually being a boulder strewn moonscape (and therefore best avoided) to the outside of the line. so the ACTUAL line was a lot tighter than your eyes suggested.

I'm glad you had fun :wavey:

I'd gotten Bunga Bunga figured out and the new found exit speed into the first right hand of Port Froid seemed overly ambitious :oops:

Somewhere in the second session I took a brave pill into Bishops and realised I could get through it a lot quicker. But it did involve the right hand tyres kicking up some rocks on the exit :lol:

I really really want to go back and try it on tyres that aren't worn out and in the dry :oops:
